Machines, precision, process.

by Karen Costa, March 2026

The machines are humming, our workshop is expanding, and there’s a spot just for the right pair of hands.

New CNC on the water (quite literally).
New Edgebander arriving next financial year.
Workshop extension currently under construction.

This year, we’re entering a new chapter and with thoughtful growth comes new opportunity.

As our workshop continues to evolve, we’re expanding our production capacity and investing deeper into our machining stream. To help support this next phase, we’re creating a dedicated role and welcoming a Machinist / Labourer to the team.

It’s a chance to be part of a hands-on workshop, work with a tight-knit crew, and help shape the way we build as we grow.

This position will support and help lead our machining operations, including:

  • CNC operation
  • Board processing
  • Edgebander operation
  • Basic machine maintenance
  • Forklift operation

This role is suited to someone who’s mechanically minded and genuinely enjoys technical precision. If you’re curious about how machines work, enjoy getting the best out of them, and take pride in doing things properly, you’ll feel right at home here.

This role focuses on machine-based work rather than detailed finishing or cabinetry assembly. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys setup, process, and working consistently to a high standard.

You may already hold relevant qualifications, or you may be earlier in your career and looking to build deeper capability within a dedicated machining stream. Either way, a genuine interest in the craft, a willingness to learn, and an eye for detail are what matter most.

This role is more than just operating a CNC.

It is about taking ownership of a critical part of our manufacturing process and helping shape how our machining stream operates as we grow.

As we invest in new machinery, expand our workshop space, and increase our production capacity, we’re intentionally creating clearer technical pathways within the business.

Machining isn’t a side task. It’s a skilled and essential role that underpins everything we produce on our workshop floor.

For the right person, this role offers:

  • Exposure to advanced machinery
  • Long term technical development
  • A growing, well equipped workshop environment
  • A clear pathway in an expanding, locally run business

If you enjoy working with machines, take pride in accuracy and want to grow alongside a South Australian business investing in its future, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

This is a full-time position based in our workshop, located in Strathalbyn, South Australia.

If you’re ready to grow with us, send your CV and a short intro to careers@spacecraftjoinery.com.au—or pop into our workshop in Strath, to introduce yourself in person to Nathan, our Design Director.
