Picture this: Pete’s helping to cook up a storm as an apprentice chef at the Olfactory Inn, working along side Chef Burr (former head chef at Kangaroo Island Sailing) dishing out culinary masterpieces left and right. But when the restaurant closed its doors, Pete found himself at a crossroads. Sure, he had his chef apprenticeship under his belt, but he was itching for something new.
So, Pete decided to shake things up. He traded his chef’s hat for a cordless drill, and dove headfirst into the world of cabinet making. And you know what? We hope he feels it’s one of the best decisions he ever made, because we LOVE having him here.
Thanks to a little nudge from a family friend who was also a client, Pete landed himself a gig here at SpaceCraft as a cabinet making apprentice. Since then, he’s been honing his craft, bringing his creative flair and attention to detail to every project he tackles on site and in the workshop.
Pete, a familiar face at the Strath Soccer Club, shares his adventurous spirit with his three older brothers, each carving their own paths in Adelaide Hills businesses—Sazons, Speedy Sloth Tow Trucks, and Coast & Country Concrete.
Last year, Pete and one of his brothers took on the Shit Box Rally, raising funds for the Cancer Council. When he’s not raising money for a good cause, you can find Pete under the hood of a car or exploring the vast landscapes of Australia (recently spent the week with his mates on the Eyre Peninsula fishing).
Pete’s journey reminds us that sometimes the path to success isn’t always a straight line—it’s full of twists, turns, and unexpected detours. But with a little courage and a whole lot of determination, anything is possible.
So here’s to Pete—the chef turned craftsman extraordinaire. We’re cheering you on every step of the way with your HIA entry later this month for Apprentice of the Year!
