Looking for a Job That’s Not Behind a Desk?

by Ellen Wundersitz, August 2025

Love working with your hands?  Always been a bit obsessed with how things are built?

Looking for a hands-on trade where you’ll start with the basics, but build up to more complex and creative work as you grow?

This could be your chance to kick-start your career in cabinet making with one of SA’s most awarded joinery teams.

Start with a week of work experience this November. If the fit feels right, you could be starting your apprenticeship in February 2026.

At SpaceCraft Joinery, we design and build and install custom joinery for amazing homes across South Australia—from bold, quirky kitchens to refined and timeless wardrobes, laundries, and everything in between.

We’re not your average joinery business. Based in a purpose-built workshop in Strathalbyn, our team is known for our attention to detail, creativity, and the pride we take in our work. We’ve got a strong crew of cabinet makers, apprentices, installers, and designers—all working together to bring ideas to life.

And now, we’re looking for our next Apprentice Cabinet Maker to join us in early 2026. But first, let’s get to know each other…

This isn’t a “send your resume and cross your fingers” situation. Here’s how it works:

  1. Send us an email with your CV and a short cover email. Tell us a bit about yourself:
    – Are you still at school? When do you finish?
    – What’s your availability for work experience?
    – Not at school? What are you doing now, and when could you start?
  2. Shortlisted applicants will be offered a week of work experience some time between November and early December.
(Tip: If you pop in to say hi or give us a call, you’ll stand out. If you’re at school, you’ll need to organise insurance paperwork via your careers counsellor—don’t worry, we’ll guide you through it.)
  3. During work experience, we’ll do our best to show you what the job is really like—some time in the workshop, maybe a site install, maybe a bit of sanding and sweeping.
How you handle that? We’re watching.
Enthusiasm, initiative, curiosity and attitude matter way more than skills at this point.
  4. If you love the work and the vibe, let our Production Manager James know. From there, we’ll select a small number of candidates to move through to the next stage for an interview.

Sound good?

Email us at careers@spacecraftjoinery.com.au with your CV and a short note about yourself.

We’re planning work experience placements for November, with the successful applicant starting their apprenticeship in February 2026.

This could be the start of something big.
Get in touch—we’d love to meet you.

P.S. Already part-way through a cabinet making apprenticeship elsewhere? We’d still love to hear from you. Get in touch.
